PLATFORM

Christine Thatcher will stand up for Brooklin families and fight for affordability, accountability and responsible growth. She will vote against the proposed 10% Durham Region property tax hike and fight for a two-year Whitby property tax freeze to give families real financial relief. Thatcher will vote to roll back the mayor’s $318,666 yearly compensation. Christine will demand that the new Whitby hospital be built without further delays. She will work to restore funding cuts to the Brooklin Library, protect Brooklin’s heritage buildings and say no to over-development that threatens the community’s character. She will also push for traffic-calming measures around every Brooklin school to make neighbourhoods safer for children and families.
